Quiet week at home

Leif's fourth week of life was pretty quiet, filled with plenty of sunny walks in the stroller and the Ergo carrier, a few visitors, and the traditional at-home entertainments: napping, eating, chilling with Mom and Dad, and tummy time. We added one more new thing to the mix this week -- Leif's first real bath!

He seemed to enjoy being in the water (or at least didn't mind it...).

Flailing your limbs around is fun whether wet or dry!

As Leif completed his first month (!) of life outside the womb, napping continued to be at the top of his priority list. Below, a few new variations on a familiar theme....

Big yawn! How does that song go -- "Waking up is hard to do"?

New tricks

At three weeks old, Leif's neatest trick so far is (drumroll, please) ... staying awake! Yes, folks, little Leif can now keep those baby blue eyes open for as long as two hours at a stretch. Granted, napping is still by far his favorite pastime, but when he's awake and alert, he does seem to be a pretty big fan of tummy time, also -- he's already working hard on getting that massive head up off the floor, and having a surprising degree of success for such an amateur at the sport.

Nothing beats naptime

...but his eyes do stay open occasionally!

Another day, another tummy workout

We love visitors!

Now that Aaron is back at work, Leif and I are especially eager for visitors to keep us company! We had several visits this week -- from my friend Wendy and her 10-month-old daughter Evelyn, my friend Shuli (twice!), and Grandpa B. Unfortunately, I forgot to get any pictures of Shuli with Leif this time around, but given how well the two of them hit it off, I have a feeling Shuli may be back for a return visit before too long!

Leif meets his cousin

Leif had the chance to meet one of his cousins for the first time this week -- Mitch, Jessica, and one-year-old Rachel were in town from South Carolina. Rachel wasn't quite sure what to make of her baby cousin....

Her first instinct was to flee!

Her second instinct was to do her best to oust the intruder from mom's arms (which is HER rightful spot, of course!)

Power sleeper

At the ripe old age of 2 1/2 weeks, Leif continues to be a relatively good sleeper -- good for an infant, that is, which means sleeping peacefully for 2 or 3 hours at a stretch! I think I know where he gets his power sleeper genes....

A week of firsts

Leif's second week at home was full of firsts...as I suppose just about every week will be for months to come! Below are a few highlights.
