Paci Land

Since Leif has enough fine motor control now to pick up a pacifier, turn it the right way, and stick it in his own mouth, we have been following a suggestion his doctor made at his 4-month appointment: to avoid the problem of "losing" his pacifier in the middle of the night (or knocking it out of the crib, as the case may be), we put some extra pacifiers in the crib so it's always easy for him to locate another one...thus no need to call out to Mom and Dad to come help! Auntie Sarah has dubbed Leif's new crib arrangement "Paci Land." I don't think the extra pacifiers have actually had any effect on how much Leif wakes/cries out at night, but he does often spend a good, long time in the early morning quietly rolling around in his crib and playing with his pacifiers before he cries out for attention. They make such good toys, and he seems to like them so much -- I will be bummed when the inevitable day comes when we decide it is time for him to learn to do without them.
