Standing room only

In the three weeks or so since Leif figured out how to pull himself up to standing, he has been all about trying to find new and interesting things to pull up on. Very occasionally he will get bored with that and actually want to crawl around or play with his toys, but before long, he always spies a tantalizing chair, box, shelf, handle, knob, or other promising object that he can use to push or pull himself up, and before we know it he is vertical again! My new job is to hover in his vicinity and be his spotter, trying to prevent any hard falls, eye pokes, or head bonks while not cramping his style too much.

In the interest of safety, we provided the ultimate pull-up box for Leif smack dab in the middle of his play mat, so he can fall in whatever direction he chooses without hurting himself. The storage bin in the picture below is the perfect height and is filled to the brim with textbooks, dictionaries, and whatever other heavy books I could find so it is totally stable; there is NO WAY Leif could accidentally pull it over onto himself as he is pulling up on it!

Of course, the parent-preferred option for any activity gets boring quickly, so Leif has been trying to explore as many alternate pulling up locations as possible! A few of his recent discoveries are shown below.
